As Vodds is an aggregated betting platform and not a bookmaker, Vodds users will have to be responsible for the bets that are being placed into the underlying sportsbooks. All Vodds orders are placed into sportsbooks and settled in accordance to the individual sportsbook regulations and rules.

Upon user request, Vodds will provide a screenshot of the sportsbook’s betlist of the voided bet.

Vodds fulfills orders by placing bets into various sportsbooks. Sportsbooks have the prerogative to decide the status of the bets in line with their betting policies. Vodds reflects the actual status returned by the underlying sportsbooks, therefore it is possible to have different bet status even though bets were placed simultaneously.

Understanding Normal Order

A current normal order is an instruction to place a bet on a selected bet type for a specific stake on a specific odds.

Given the stake, VOdds will estimate the best available odds for the order. Upon user’s confirmation, VOdds will immediately execute the order. All bets placed will be at equal or better odds than the specified odds. However, VOdds might not be able to fulfill the requested order, because the odds may change significantly between the execution time and the time the order is placed.

With future order, users can place a bet at a hitherto unavailable odds. VOdds will carry out the trade once the odd requested is available. Users are also able to specify how long the order is good for. VOdds will try to fulfill the order as long as the order is still in force.

This function is especially useful for traders who need to bet only on specific prices, and quantitative analysts who use a set of pre-determined prices to trade. In addition, in-running traders will find it advantageous to enter or exit a trade using this function.

In addition, this function can also perform a “Sweep” action for users who require larger stakes. For example, if the prevailing odds are:

Sportsbook A: 2.00 ; max stake $100

Sportsbook B: 1.99 ; max stake $100

Sportsbook C: 1.98 ; max stake $100

Sportsbook D: 1.97 ; max stake $100

Sportsbook E: 1.95 ; max stake $100

User can submit an order of $1,000 at odds 1.95 and VOdds will hit the sportsbooks simultaneously to get the best return for the user. This future order will only stop when a) Order duration has lapsed b) Requested stake has been reached, hence order fulfilled c) User initiates a Cancel Order command.

Understanding Positional Order

A Positional Order consists of an Opening Positional Order and a Closing Positional Order. Essentially, users will make a bet on a selection and subsequently close it with a corresponding opposite bet.

Example, on an English Premier League match between Bournemouth Vs Liverpool, an Opening Positional Order could be on Bournemouth HDP +0.50. A corresponding Closing Positional Order would be on Liverpool HDP -0.50. Hence the second bet will cover the first bet’s liabilities in all possible match outcomes.

A Positional Order is a pair of bets that depends on the odds movement to determine the profit and loss. It is similar to a “Long” or “Short” position in the equities market. When odds moves in favour of your Opening bet, the Position can be closed with a profit.

A Normal Order is a conventional bet that is dependent on the match outcome.

A Positional Order is essentially a bet on the odds movement of an event. If the odds moves sufficiently in favour of your selection, your Positional Order would be profitable. Conversely, if the odds moves against your selection, then your Positional Order would be unprofitable.

Example 1: User opens a Positional Order on an English Premier League match between Bournemouth Vs Liverpool. His selection for Opening Positional Order is on Bournemouth HDP +0.50 at odds of 2.100 for a stake of $100. At this instance, the market was offering:

Bournemouth HDP +0.50 @@ 2.10Liverpool HDP -0.50 @@ 1.86

Subsequently, information that Liverpool manager has decided to make 10 changes to his first team line-up, caused a flurry of bets on Bournemouth HDP +0.50. Sportsbooks slashed their odds in response to the heavy betting and markets moved to:

Bournemouth HDP +0.50 @@ 1.67Liverpool HDP -0.50 @@ 2.39

At this point, user decides to cash out on profits by invoking a Closing Positional Order on Liverpool HDP -0.50 at odds of 2.39 for a stake of $87.87. Therefore, the Positional Order is closed.

Bet TypeSelectionStakeOdds
Opening Positional BetBournemouth HDP +0.50$100.002.10
Closing Positional BetLiverpool HDP -0.50$87.872.39

In the event Bournemouth wins or draws:

Bet TypeSelectionStakeOddsP & L
Opening Positional BetBournemouth HDP +0.50$100.002.10+$110.00
Closing Positional BetLiverpool HDP -0.50$87.872.39-$87.87
Total+$22.13

In the event Bournemouth loses:

Bet TypeSelectionStakeOddsP & L
Opening Positional BetBournemouth HDP +0.50$100.002.10-$100.00
Closing Positional BetLiverpool HDP -0.50$87.872.39+$122.13
Total+$22.13

Therefore, no matter what the outcome of the match is, the user stands to profit $22.13.

Currently, only selected major leagues and cup pre-game matches are available for Positional Orders. Available bet types are Asian Handicap (HDP) and Total Goals (OU). This is to ensure that sufficient liquidity is available to users. Another reason is to ensure that all matches are low-spread matches. Positional Orders must be opened and subsequently closed anytime prior to 15 minutes of the scheduled kick off time.

Positional Orders are not available for In-Running games.

If users do not close their Positional Order when the match is about to start, Vodds will automatically close their Positional Order 15 minutes before the scheduled kick off time.

Users have discretion on when they wish to close the Positional Order. They may do so by clicking the Close Position button. Vodds will close the position with the best odds available on the market on a stake such that any profits or losses will be equal on all outcomes, except when the bet is pushed.

There are three strategies for closing a Positional Order: Equal, Leaning Opening, Leaning Closing. In the Example 1 quoted above, the Positional Order is closed using the default Equal strategy.

The following example illustrates a user utilises the Leaning Opening strategy:

Example 2:

Bet TypeSelectionStakeOdds
Opening Positional BetBournemouth HDP +0.50$100.002.10
Closing Positional BetLiverpool HDP -0.50$71.942.39

In the event Bournemouth wins or draws:

Bet TypeSelectionStakeOddsP & L
Opening Positional BetBournemouth HDP +0.50$100.002.10+$110.00
Closing Positional BetLiverpool HDP -0.50$71.942.39-$71.94
Total+$38.06

In the event Bournemouth loses:

Bet TypeSelectionStakeOddsP & L
Opening Positional BetBournemouth HDP +0.50$100.002.10-$100.00
Closing Positional BetLiverpool HDP -0.50$71.942.39+$100.00
Total$0.00

Therefore, the user stands to gain $38.06 if Bournemouth wins or draws (which means that the Opening Positional Bet wins) and does not win or lose if Bournemouth loses. Therefore the profits are maximised when the Opening Positional Bet wins. This strategy is defined as Leaning Opening strategy.

The following example illustrates a user utilizes the Leaning Closing strategy:

Example 3:

Bet TypeSelectionStakeOdds
Opening Positional BetBournemouth HDP +0.50$100.002.10
Closing Positional BetLiverpool HDP -0.50$110.002.39

In the event Bournemouth wins or draws:

Bet TypeSelectionStakeOddsP & L
Opening Positional BetBournemouth HDP +0.50$100.002.10+$110.00
Closing Positional BetLiverpool HDP -0.50$110.002.39-$110.00
Total$0.00

In the event Bournemouth loses:

Bet TypeSelectionStakeOddsP & L
Opening Positional BetBournemouth HDP +0.50$100.002.10-$100.00
Closing Positional BetLiverpool HDP -0.50$110.002.39+$152.90
Total+$52.90

Therefore, the user stands to gain $52.90 if Bournemouth loses (which means that the Closing Positional Bet wins) and does not win or lose if Bournemouth wins or draws. Therefore the profits are maximised when the Closing Positional Bet wins. This strategy is defined as Leaning Closing strategy.
